Academic Scholarship 2026
Through the generosity of the school community, Bunbury SHS offers academic scholarships for currently enrolled students or those students who would appreciate the opportunity to study at Bunbury SHS.
Senior School Scholarship
The following scholarships are available to any currently enrolled Year 10 student or those students who would appreciate the opportunity to complete their senior school study at Bunbury SHS for 2026/2027.
Kingia Scholarship
One student completing a full ATAR program (minimum four ATAR courses) and one student completing a Certificate/Combination program. A monetary scholarship ‘up to the value of $1000’ for each year during the period of senior schooling is offered.
ATAR criteria for consideration:
- Minimum Pre-Qual in NAPLAN or Cat 3 OLNA in all components Numeracy, Writing and Reading
- Academic standing in Year 10 Semester 1 report to meet an ATAR pathway
- Academic and/or community achievements
- Participation in extra curricula school-based activities.
Certificate/Combination criteria for consideration:
- Acceptance into nationally recognised Certificate III course
- Academic standing in Year 10 Semester 1 report
- NAPLAN and OLNA standing in all components Numeracy, Writing and Reading
- Academic and/or community achievements
- - Participation in extra curricula activities.
Funds cover compulsory school charges with residual monies allocated to other optional charges and/or personal items and other services in consultation with the student during the period of senior schooling.
Kaadadjiny Scholarship
Two ATAR pathway (minimum four ATAR courses) students and two Certificate/Combination pathway students awarded the Kaadadjiny scholarship are drawn from the Kingia scholarship applicants. The recipients of these scholarships will have their compulsory school charges ‘up to the value of $500’ covered for each year during the period of senior schooling.
Certificate/Combination pathway students completing a Certificate II course may apply directly for a Kaadadjiny scholarship under the following criteria:
- Acceptance into nationally recognised Certificate II course
- Academic standing in Year 10 Semester 1 report
- NAPLAN and OLNA standing in all components Numeracy, Writing and Reading
- Academic and/or community achievements
- Participation in extra curricula activities.
How to Apply
To apply for a 2026 Scholarship, students complete the Scholarship Application Form found on the school website and include the following documents:
- Student composed letter of introduction which details current interests and achievements as well as future ambitions. The letter should not exceed a typed A4 page (1-sided)
- A copy of Semester 1 Year 10 report
- Certificate III course acceptance (for Certificate/Combination Kingia pathway scholarship)
- Certificate II course acceptance (for Certificate/Combination Kaadadjiny pathway scholarship)
- Applications will open in July 2025
- Applications close Friday 29 August 2025 for full ATAR program students
- Applications close Friday 14 November 2025 for Certificate/Combination students.
Enrolment Requirements
- Full time enrolment at Bunbury SHS over the duration of the scholarship
- Continual enrolment in the ATAR program over the duration of senior schooling
- Successful completion of ATAR program in first year of enrolment with 80+ predicted ATAR for continuation of scholarship
- Successful completion of Certificate/Combination in first year of enrolment for continuation of scholarship
- Continual enrolment in the Certificate/Combination program over the duration of senior schooling (ie. enrolment in another certificate and/or enrolment into the UniPrep program).
Assessment
Nominated students will be assessed on the eligibility for each scholarship on the criteria outlined.
NAPLAN components start at Pre-Qual as first consideration
Academic standing will be a grade point average for MESH subjects and two best non-MESH subjects
OLNA Cat 3 in Sit 1 if NAPLAN components are not Pre-Qual
Academic and/or community achievements from years 7 - 9
Participation in extra curricula activities
Good standing status noted in Compass will be used for final differentiation
Interview with Principal.
Reserved Judgement
An interview prior to the assessment process will occur if it is deemed the written application may not be of student’s own undertaking.
